Have you been using an acne treatment that doesn’t work?

As an acne sufferer, you may have spent many months trying different creams and tablets. Your acne treatment might have produced some or no response.  Nearly half of all such patients in our practice reported never seeing a dermatologist. They felt, therefore that they did not have enough information to make the right decision for their acne treatment.

As a result, most patients tried makeup, peels, diet changes, and herbal remedies before taking decisive action with Diamond Acne Cure. More than 75% were not aware that they could have qualified for the most effective acne treatment at the start of their journey!

Acne treatment that works for you

The British Association of Dermatologists website offers an excellent summary of facts and myths about acne treatment. Diamond AcneCure uses Isotretinoin (Roaccutane) to deliver the highest response rate. We couple this with close supervision under an acne specialist team and dermatologist. No matter how long you have had acne, you start to see results within 4 weeks. We find the programme typically delivers 80% skin clearance in 4 months for many people. Not surprisingly, a whole new sense of confidence comes with this.

Acne treatment is conducted by expert dermatologists

Our central office books monthly consultations with the dermatologist during your acne treatment plan. At each appointment, your specialist will carry out short skin examinations to monitor your progress. On some visits, the nurse will take blood samples. Your dermatologist uses the blood results to make sure you are on the right dosage regime. If you are female, she will also undertake a pregnancy test at each of your appointments. Your dermatologist will guide your dosage and treatment length. The specialist determines this based on your weight, acne severity, and response throughout the programme.

When you attend your Acne Treatment consultation

The specialist will assess your medical background and acne severity. They then describe all suitable acne treatment plans. Many patients enquire about the details of taking Isotretinoin (Roaccutane/Accutane) so the specialist covers all this information. The FAQs below address some common questions. You can also read the official Roaccutane advice. Should you wish to start the Diamond AcneCure programme, then the nurse will take your baseline blood tests and a clinical photograph. Since dosage is weight dependent, they also weigh you. If you are female, a pregnancy test is required at the same time.

Within 7 working days, you are able to start your acne treatment!

What happens during the AcneCure programme?

Throughout your programme, we remain in contact with you by telephone or email to answer any concerns or queries regarding your acne treatment.
We arrange monthly follow-ups as you improve. The visits are to monitor tolerance and dose adjustment as required. You can book your next appointment on the day of your consultation, or later over the phone, by email, or online booking.

For females, we confirm a negative pregnancy test every month. For all patients, the team ensures blood tests at weeks 1, 4, 12, and 20. The client services team arranges your medication on a monthly basis. This is delivered either at the clinic or to your home address.

Is my GP kept informed?

The client services team delivers a written record of each of your consultations. A copy is also forwarded to your GP unless you request otherwise. The specialist updates you by letter on the blood test results as required.

How do Isotretinoin/Roaccutane capsules work?

Isotretinoin capsules help acne by reducing the amount of natural oil made by your skin so blocked pores are less likely. The medicine also kills the bacteria that cause acne and relieves redness and soreness.

How long does it take to work?

Your acne may get worse when you first start treatment but will then normally start to improve after 3 – 4 weeks.

How long will treatment last?

A treatment course usually lasts for 6 months. Acne will normally keep improving for up to 8 weeks after stopping treatment.

Most people have clear skin at month 4 of the treatment & flares stop completely at 6 months.

Very few will need another round of treatment.

What if the treatment doesn't work?

Roaccutane has a 100% response rate after 6 months. For 90% of patients, their acne does not return. Only 10% see a return, but this is usually years later. There is no limit to how many times Roaccutane can be used in a lifetime.

What if my acne comes back?

Only 10% see a return, but this is usually years later. There is no limit to how many times Roaccutane can be used in a lifetime.

Will it affect my fertility?

Roaccutane does NOT reduce a man or woman’s fertility.

For women, it’s safe to try for a baby from 6 weeks after treatment.

Can I donate blood while taking Roaccutane?

Don’t donate blood while taking Roaccutane and for at least 1 month after stopping. If your blood is given to a pregnant woman, it may harm her unborn baby.

Can I drink alcohol with it?

It’s best to avoid alcohol while taking Isotretinoin capsules, or at least keep the amount you drink to a minimum. This is because there’s a risk of damage to your liver – and your cholesterol levels will increase. However, these are monitored during your treatment.

If you do drink, try not to drink more than the recommended guidelines of up to 14 units of alcohol a week. A standard glass of wine (175ml) is 2 units. A pint of lager or beer is usually 2 to 3 units of alcohol.
