Scar reduction is better with two methods
The appearance of most facial scars can be reduced by any method that stimulates the skin’s natural collagen production in that scar. The more collagen produced, the better the effect. A microneedling device uses sterilised microneedles to produce numerous tiny areas of skin remodelling. Each opening stimulates the skin to produce more collagen. On its own, this procedure produces a 65%-70% improvement over 4-6 months.
But that’s not all!
The collagen is produced because each microinjury ‘calls in’ platelets which produce growth factors to stimulate the laying down of more collagen. Our scar reduction injections, take more of these platelets (from your own blood) and release them into the scar area too. The more collagen produced, the greater the effect. This new collagen is permanent. It does not degrade, dissolve or disappear every 6 months.

Am I Suitable for the Diamond Scar Reduction programme?
You can start the programme within a week if you can confirm all of the below:
- I am NOT pregnant or breastfeeding.
- I am NOT planning to become pregnant in the next 6 months.
- I have NOT taken acne medications in the last 8 weeks.
- I am NOT under 18.

When you attend your Scar Reduction consultations
If you have completed our acne cure programme, you will already have been assessed for suitability. Otherwise, at the consultation, our specialist will carefully assess your medical background and the severity of your acne scarring. Through a thorough examination of your skin, the specialist will discuss suitable treatment plans tailored to your unique needs and provide an estimate of the treatment duration (usually 4-6 months).
With your consent, photos will be taken for comparison purposes. A blood sample will be obtained and sent for testing before commencing the treatment to ensure your suitability for the scar reduction injections. Once the test results are back, your first treatment appointment will be scheduled. During the treatment session, a numbing cream will be applied for 20 minutes to minimise discomfort, followed by the collection of blood to be prepared for the scar reduction injections.

How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments required depends on the severity of your acne scars and your skin’s response to the treatment. Typically, we recommend a series of 4-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart for optimal results.
Is micro-needling + collagen stimulant injection painful?
While some patients may experience mild discomfort during the procedure, we take measures to ensure your comfort, such as applying a topical numbing cream beforehand.
How long does it take to see results?
You may start to see improvements in the texture and appearance of your skin within a few weeks of your first treatment. However, the full effects of micro-needling may take several months to become apparent as your skin continues to regenerate.
Is there any downtime after the treatment?
You may experience some redness and mild swelling immediately following the procedure, but these side effects typically subside within a few days. You can resume your normal activities right away, although we recommend avoiding direct sun exposure and wearing sunscreen to protect your skin during the healing process.
Are there any risks associated with collagen stimulant injection + micro-needling?
Collagen stimulant injections + Micro-needling is generally safe when performed by a qualified clinician. However, some potential risks include temporary redness, swelling, bruises, pigmentations, and rarely, scarring and infection.
