About the role

Diamond Skin Care is a multi-award-winning dermatology business established in January 2014 and has experienced huge growth in private medical practice. The company has developed a base of high-quality patient care services and processes and now enters a growth phase of building further expansion upon the proven success of these fundamentals.

We are due to our continued planned extension of our clinic capacity in the Colchester area. An opportunity has arisen for two Health Care Assistants to join our team at our Colchester clinic.

This is an excellent entry-level (equivalent to NHS band 2) position for anyone looking to work in or switch to the healthcare industry. We have two basic requirements of the ideal applicant – a competent and safe worker with a passion for quality healthcare and commercial keenness or experience in a customer service/sales setting. The role would best suit an individual who looks forward to connecting with patients, building relationships with their team and takes pride in the growth and expansion of the company. The dual experiences of healthcare and commercial practices gained is a unique offering of this post. You will need to be a quick learner and competent with digital healthcare and basic business IT systems.

You will be responsible for helping to run routine clinic activities, contributing to business development and will be part of a high-quality patient booking and continuity of care process. The duties include but are not limited to

  • Support in the organised running of face-to-face clinics
  • Help and support for the practitioners in the performance of skin examinations as chaperone and patient assistant.
  • Assist practitioners with minor surgical procedures with competent use of a sterile technique which will be taught
  • Putting patients at ease during procedures and consultations
  • Answering patient calls and queries
  • Help patients to book the best service type for their requirements with your practical knowledge gained from the in-house training and clinic environment.
  • Assist with procedures using specialised medical equipment, including cosmetic dermatology.
  • Specimen collection and testing such as swabs, urine test and blood tests (all training provided).
  • Shared responsibility for the clinical area including help with stock management, cleanliness and patient records.

You will be supported by Senior HCA’s, Nurses and Lead Nurse internally. Much of the required training (clinical and commercial) is provided internally with plenty of support from Senior HCA’s and Nurse. For interested candidates, career progression pathways are also available.
